150 stereoscopes [3D Victorian Photography] 1849, brief history

⁣Today we will discuss briefly the history behind the stereoscope (the little invention that swept the world after the 1851 Great Exhibition). These stereoscopes could view “3D” images, and eventually this technology was made much more affordable, hence why we have so many remarkable stereoscopic images that survive (as well as many being kept on glass “slides” as opposed to on flimsier film or developed photograph).
